This is the basic entry-level program and is all you need to dive without direct professional supervision. You and your dive buddies will be able to go off adventuring alone, or join a group of other divers with a Divemaster if you like.
You will cover all of the basics of scuba diving from physics and physiology, equipment, gas management, through to underwater communications, understanding marine life and dive planning.
Over the course of 3-4 days your instructor will guide you to full understanding of everything you need to know, and to be able to do, to remain safe underwater, and have a great time. The class includes some video sessions and studying of academics, the materials you will use for this have been developed by PADI of 40 years of dive training and are regarded as the best in the industry. PADI is No.1 worldwide for a reason, and the training materials you will use are modern, clear and functional – you’ll be a knowledgeable diver in no time.
You will also spend time in shallow water with your instructor, where you get to take your first breaths underwater, and start practicing some skills to ensure you are comfortable and safe whilst enjoying the amazing marine life that you’ll see even from dive 1. Once you have mastered the basics of using the equipment and controlling your body in the aquatic world you will move on to Open Water dives on the regular dive sites, you’ll even be on the boat with certified divers, so you can chat with experienced divers and immerse yourself in the social side of diving!
After your 4 Open Water dives, if your instructor is happy with your performance then you’ll complete the exam and be certified as a PADI Open Water diver, ready to go forth and enjoy many, many wonderful scuba diving experiences all over the world.
