The Evolution Marine and Photo Workshop has just culminated with budding photographers from the USA, Indonesia and The Philippines taking thousands of photos between them over 4 perfect days of diving here in Malapascua.
Hosted by biologist and photographer Dr Klaus Stiefel the team learnt all about the local Malapascuan underwater fauna with emphasis on behaviour and how to find great subjects. Klaus’ encyclopaedic knowledge of species and their peculiar peccadilloes meant every spare moment was insightful.
The 6 participants put together an incredible array of species, showcasing just how much diversity Malapascua can offer. The most photographed creatures includes Mandarinfish, Frogfish, Thresher Sharks, Candy Crabs, Organgutan Crabs, Moray Eels, Shrimpfish, Anenome Crabs, Octopus, Cuttlefish, Gobies, Jellyfish and their pilot fish, Crinoid Shrimp and so much more.
All participants came away with improved photography skills and an even deeper appreciation of the unique marine life of The Philippines. all compact users managed to switch over to manual settings and over their dives mastered composition, depth of field, lighting and all learnt more about post processing.
Well done to our shooting team of Eddy, Acil, Annalyne, Bill, Walan and Randy. Happy snapping! Randy walked away with an Evolution rash vest for winning the shoot out with his delicately composed shot of a Goby.
