Clean Up!

clean up dive malapascuaAs beautiful as the diving is here on Malapascua Island, we need to play our part in the cleanliness of the dive sites. Today a group of instructors here at Evolution went out for a rather successful underwater clean up!

We made our way through strong surge and arrived at Los Bamboos, a beloved dive site for newbies and a perfect site for entry level courses. Upon arrival, 5 divers jumped in with 4 mesh-bags in hand and split into groups. After 60 minutes underwater trying to cover most of the dive site, all 4 bags had a significant amount of rubbish in each!

After discussion, we concluded that the most common trash were sachets and plastic used for ice. Even though this was a success, it is a shame we need to do the clean up in the first place. We try our best to keep spreading the message of reducing the use of plastic, as well as waste management.
