Video – Power To Protect: Essential Marine Wildlife Tourism Guidelines

Power To Protect: Essential Marine Wildlife Tourism Guidelines

In April 2016, LAMAVE along with 6 other local NGOs launched the collaborative video campaign “TheirFuture Our Future”. The campaign featured a set of 6 short films to raise awareness on marine wildlife interaction protocol in anticipation of the launch of the JOINT ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER ON REGULATIONS FOR MARINE WILDLIFE TOURISM INTERACTION, drafted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The films starred local stakeholders involved in sustainable wildlife tourism across five different provinces: Baclayon (Bohol), Pintuyan (Southern Leyte), Dauin (Negros), Donsol  (Bicol) and Daanbantayan (Cebu). Each community highlighted the importance of one particular wildlife tourism guideline and delivered their own #powertoprotectPH message to help tourists understand the importance of following guidelines – to protect wildlife, and also livelihoods.

These five films were then condensed to make one final collaborative film: Power To Protect: Essential Marine Wildlife Tourism Guidelines
