Safety First

Have you ever wondered or worried about what would happen if you came to Malapascua but needed a trip to Cebu and the hyperbaric chamber? Possibly not but we have. At Evolution we are proud of our 100{3c584785206271acba0b48c760be4725f0625fa591b4a52f771ab721d5a102df} safety record and part of that success is to anticipate and plan for events that we hope never occur.

Apart from making sure we have all the necessary phone numbers and plans to bring a stricken diver to Cebu we also need to consider how best to help that diver en route. The most important thing is to make sure we have sufficient oxygen available.

We can now exclusively offer our divers multiple 11l tanks of O2 pressurized to 200 bar. This may not sound unusual but most industry standard O2 tanks are 3 litres and are usually pressured to 100 bar. Evolution has invested in a high pressure Gas Booster so we can fill our technical and emergency tanks to 200bar. This is a chance for us maths nerds to get excited.

A tank with a capacity of 11 litres x 200 bar means 2,200 litres of O2 available.

3 litres by 100 bar means 300 litres available.

2,200 v 300!

If a diver breathes 20 litres of O2 per minute en route to Cebu we can keep them breathing the life saving gas for almost two hours with one tank compared to perhaps 15 minutes on a normal O2 tank. By assigning 4 O2 clean 11l tanks for emergencies we now hope we can offer a lot more O2 for a lot longer should a diver need it.

We hope that these preparations and plans remain unused but better safe then sorry. Your safety is always our primary concern.
