Over the past weekend thousands of divers converged in Singapore for Asia’s biggest dive expo – ADEX 2018. The show was presented in conjunction with International Year of the Reef, an initiative designed to promote awareness about the importance of coral reefs to global environmental sustainability.
Also at the show the BlueGreen360 awards were presented, and Evolution is proud to be the recipient of the Green Fins award, as the dive operator with the lowest impact on the environment worldwide!(based on their independent assessment).
As you probably know if you follow our news and updates, we are constantly working on reducing our impact on the environment in the diveshop and in the resort. A variety of efforts in this area from working with divers on their techniques and buoyancy control all the way through to the products we use to clean the boats and the dive equipment, have enabled us to minimize our negative effects on the beautiful marine world that we love so much.
Receiving another award in recognition of our efforts is really encouraging, and motivates us to continue working towards better and more sustainable practices throughout the industry. Many thanks to Reef World and Green Fins for their support, and a big pat on the back to all our hard working staff who go the extra mile to make us work more sustainably.
We think it’s worth noting that we occasionally get comments from divers that we are “too strict”, when we ask people not to wear gloves, and not to touch the reef and so on. Suffice to say that our objective is to protect the reef and marine environment, and if you need to practice your buoyancy to be able to avoid damaging the coral then we are more than happy to work with you to achieve that goal. You might be surprised at how much you can evolve, with a little training from one of our team of buoyancy control experts.
