A rare sighting of a blue whale has been seen off the coast Dumaguete and Negros Oriental. It was spotted coming in from the south, off the town of Dauin, and then again spotted in Canday-Ong. Later monitored off Silliman Beach, heading North towards Malapascua.
The blue whale is the largest mammal in the world, reaching up to 33 metres in length. However, no one knows the exact population of these marine creatures, and to have this rare sighting in the Philippines will hopefully increase public awareness on marine life.
