Have you ever considered a career in diving, or becoming a better diver and improving your awareness underwater?
If your answer is yes, then you may consider a Divemaster course as the next step.
Allow me to give you a sneak peak of what I so far have experienced as a Dive Master Trainee (DMT) at Evolution.
Let me start by introducing myself: my name is Julia, I am Swedish and super-fascinated with sharks. My love for sharks is the reason I ended up in Malapascua, because where else will I get the opportunity to dive with the beautiful Threshers almost every day? I decided to do my DM course with Evolution when I came into contact with Dannie, one of the instructors here, who also happens to be Swedish. It didn’t take much effort to convince me to come here and even less to make me stay once I saw this beautiful island.
This is my first time in the Philippines and I had no idea what to expect when I arrived. I heard from friends that the Filippinos are the most friendly people you will ever meet and I have to agree! They always greet you with a big smile, have the time for a quick chat and are willing to lend you a helping hand. I immediately felt welcomed when I arrived. Here at Evolution we are one big family and everyone is included in it; the guests, guides, instructors, girls in the bar, boat crew, reception, kitchen and hotel staff. It doesn’t matter if you are here only for a few days or stay for weeks. You are a part of it.
Being a DMT is a lot of fun, of course you get to dive dive and dive, meet interesting people and you learn something new everyday.
But it is also hard work because there is always something to get done and do around the dive center. Evolution involves DMTs in all aspects of the business, from helping the boat crews load/unload the boat, carrying boxes and tanks, rinsing equipment, preparing for briefings, and welcoming the guests as they step onto this paradise. My favorite thing, apart from diving, has been to interact with our guests. I truly enjoyed this experience, helping them with equipment, assisting on courses, identifying fish and explaining dive procedures. The DM program provided me with not only extensive dive training to help me become a better diver, but also taught me the quality of customer service and an operation involved in a successful dive business. For someone who is seriously considering a path towards professional diving, this is an invaluable experience.
My stay here is almost at its end and I will truly miss this place when I leave. I have had so much fun here, learnt a lot and met many wonderful people.I have evolved both as a diver and as a person thanks to Evolution. If you would ask me where to do your DM or a place for your next dive trip, my answer would of course be Evolution!
