Everyone knows that Malapascuas greatest diving drawcard is the majestic Thresher Sharks, closely followed by the vast array of macro life that populates the reefs surrounding the island. What a lot of people don’t realise is that they are missing out on a plethora of marine life in their dive schedule, simply because they are not participating in the often forgotten and often under rated NIGHT DIVE!!
Some less experienced divers have certain worries about diving at night – what happens if my light fails? What happens if I lose my buddy? What if I see a ghost? If you are taking a night dive as part of your Advanced Open Water certification, or just want to give it a try, one of our experienced instructors will explain all the tips and tricks you need to make your first foray into the darkness relaxing, safe and fun! (this includes some very effective ghost evasion techniques)
For the more seasoned diver, and especially the photographers among us, Malapascua offers some stunning night diving opportunities, with some of the more weird and wonderful reef inhabitants coming out to play. It is not uncommon to spot some, most or even all of the following on a night dive here: mandarin fish, blue-ringed octopus, seahorses, reef octopus, sea moths, cuttlefish, bobtail squid, spanish dancers, frogfish, box crabs, squid…. the list goes on and on…Our guides here at Evolution have the best eyes on the island, with many of our guests rating Malapascua as their best night diving experience – so why not join the fun??
