Discovery Shark Month!

discovery shark week malapascuaOver the last twenty years Discovery Channel has become an educational fixture in the TV viewing habits of millions across the globe. So Evolution is very proud to welcome and host Discovery Channel programme makers to Malapascua to make a documentary on our Thresher Sharks this May and June.

Discovery, and their co producers Passion Planet and Scubazoo are looking to get as close to the sharks as possible. So what is the only way to minimize noise and bubbles underwater?? Diving and filming with a Closed Circuit Rebreather of course! As Evolution is renowned for high quality dive training and is the only centre on Malapascua teaching CCR we were indeed the ‘natural selection’ to provide the training and production support needed for the 4 week complex shoot.

Currently we have underwater cameramen in training with the Pelagian CCR, getting up to speed on the intricacies of silent, stealth diving. By June a full production unit will be here to make the most comprehensive documentary to date on our sharks as well as discovering new and exciting science about just how these sharks live, eat, predate and where they go. Scientist and Thresher Shark expert Dr Simon Oliver hopes to learn numerous scientific firsts with these animals.
