Evolution is always supportive of folks who are fighting for the environment, especially the marine environment. So last night we were happy to host the Malapascua Movie Premiere of “Bag It” ; a movie about the global obsession with plastic bags, and single use plastic products. The Craic House was easily transformed into a comfortable viewing area and a selection of guests, locals, and staff watched with great interest.

The movie viewing was setup and organised by Anna Dawson of ‘Plastic Free Philippines‘.  Anna is cycling the Philippine coast raising awareness of plastic waste and what we can do to reduce our plastic uses. In keeping with her philosophy, Anna is riding on the famous BamBike , an amazing bike with the frame made entirely of highly sustainable bamboo!

Hopefully a few people learnt something and awareness of plastic waste is increasing, so we can start to take the steps needed to reduce plastics in our garbage and in our oceans.

At Evolution we haven’t used plastic straws for over 5 years and we have reuseable bags in our store rather than plastic ones. If you can’t live without a straw in your shake you can buy reuseable ones, and biodebradable ones from groups such as The Last Straw Movement  and Straw Wars Philippines , and bring them with you.

So many thanks to Anna for her part in raising awareness, let’s all do our part and stop with single use plastics.

You can also find Plastic Free Philippines on Facebook, and of course, BamBike also has it’s own Facebook page.
