I think most of us have seen the articles on the news, or facebook about turtles swallowing straws and plastic bags and becoming entangled in other forms of marine debris, usually plastics.
Well, evolution has for many year refused to use straws in our restaurant, and as a result saved a potential 10,000 plastic straws entering the environment and causing harm. In our efforts to continue being eco-friendly and encouraging our staff to also care for their beautiful island, we have bought some reuseable bags for them to use when shopping on the island.
One of the NGOs on the island TEDH has started a “no plastics” initiative at the local ‘sari-sari’ stores, trying to educate and encourage the local stores to minimise their use of plastic bags for people’s shopping. Already there is an island-wide plastic-free Saturday just like the government has started in Cebu city.
So at evolution we thought we’d try and help this process along by explaining to our staff why they should not use plastic bags, and giving them reuseable bags which they can take home and use anytime they go shopping at the local stores on the island.
These bags also make great souvenirs for visitors to bring home to remind them of their trip – so we are offering these bags for sale. Each bag costs just p50, and we guarantee the 50{3c584785206271acba0b48c760be4725f0625fa591b4a52f771ab721d5a102df} of that price you pay will buy another reuseable bag, which will be distributed around the island in an effort to remove plastics completely!

We have also recently introduced our stainless steel water bottles, which are another way for you to reduce your plastic usage, and your impact on the environment. So rather than ordering the plastic bottles of water at the bar, pick up one of our stylish water bottles, and take advantage of our cheap refill policy to keep well hydrated and to keep the oceans clean.
