Cebu Pioneer – Deep Trimix Wreck Diving

cebu pioneer wreck diving philippines

As experienced and very active technical divers we are often asked what the reason is to train to go deeper, when surely there’s nothing much to see once you go very deep. Well, hopefully this video will help to explain why we spend so much time training and perfecting skills to go deep, use strange gas mixes, and making sure that we can ascend safely from ever dive.

This video is of a shipwreck resting at 110m(360ft) underwater, just 25 minutes from the diveshop of Evolution on Malapascua. This wreck is virtually undived with Evolution being the only ones to have visited the wreck since finding it several years ago. As you can see, there’s lots worth checking out, and there is a lot of marine life inhabiting the ghostlike ship on the seabed.

The beginning of the video shows a car, which appears to be Mercedes, lying on the seabed beside the shipwreck, then the video takes you on a tour from the bow of the wreck towards the midships area, passing under the king posts, covered with life.

Although time on the wreck is limited due to it’s extreme depth, and the decompression can take over 2hrs, those few divers who have been privileged to visit the ship will definitely tell you that all the training and effort is well worth it!
